Biak, Waironnews.com — The Deputy Regent of Biak Numfor, Jimmy CR. Kapissa, has called on all residents, especially Muslims in Biak Numfor Regency, to maintain a safe and conducive environment ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijri. The statement was delivered by Kapissa from his residence in Ridge Biak on Friday (March 20, 2026).

He also conveyed greetings on behalf of the Biak Numfor Regency Government and the Regent of Biak Numfor, Markus O. Mansnembra.

Kapissa explained that the determination of Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijri follows the decision of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia through the isbat session, which set Eid al-Fitr to fall on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

“We urge all people of Biak Numfor Regency to continue maintaining a conducive situation. So far, the regional atmosphere remains safe, comfortable, and under control. This is an appreciation for the community, which is the main indicator of the creation of security,” Kapissa said.

He emphasized that interfaith harmony, which has been well maintained, is a key strength of Biak Numfor Regency. According to him, the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr serves as a real example of tolerance that can become a model for other regions.

“Biak Numfor has long been known as a region that upholds the values of tolerance. As the eastern gateway of Indonesia, we continue to maintain our status as a zone of peace,” he added.

Kapissa also expressed his gratitude to all elements of society, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), as well as communities in neighboring areas such as Supiori, for their contributions in maintaining regional stability and supporting development.

Based on statistical data in 2024, the population of Biak Numfor Regency is approximately 100,000 people, with Muslims making up 24.46 percent. He assessed that this contribution is significant in supporting regional development, including increasing local revenue (PAD).

At the end of his statement, Kapissa conveyed his apologies to the public for government policies that may not have fully met expectations.

“On behalf of the Regent and the Regional Government of Biak Numfor Regency, we wish you a Happy Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijri.

Please forgive us for any shortcomings. Let us continue to support regional development for our shared prosperity,” he said.
